COMPSTAT is an extremely successful crime analysis and law enforcement management process developed by the New York Police
Department. In essence, the COMPSTAT process can be summarized as follows: Crime data is collected and analyzed on a regular
basis. Effective strategies and tactics are developed to solve crime and improve quality of life issues for our citizens. Sheriff's
Office personnel and resources are rapidly deployed to alleviate crime thereby improving quality of life in our community.
The final principle of COMPSTAT is relentless follow-up and assessment, which ensures desired results actually have been achieved.
Public Safety Bureau Lieutenants (Area Commanders) are assigned to three City of Centennial and three Arapahoe County geographic
areas. They are responsible for providing innovative crime control strategies for the citizens and businesses located within
their specific geographical areas.
Monthly COMPSTAT meetings are conducted where Area Commanders are required to demonstrate the effectiveness of their precinct’s
crime control efforts and offer solutions to other problems that are identified by executive command staff members.
