The Patrol Impact Team consists of three deputies and one sergeant. Adhering to the concepts of Problem Oriented Policing,
Impact Team members are assigned to specific community problems that are either unique or that patrol precinct deputies do
not have the extended periods of time to effectively handle.
Members of the Impact Team receive specialized training in gang recognition and intervention, surveillance techniques, hotel/motel
drug intervention, and fugitive apprehension. Through the Impact Team’s proactive approach to community issues, they are able
to utilize creative strategies to disrupt and reduce criminal activity.
By detecting criminal activity and arresting those involved, the Patrol Impact Team has made a significant impact in solving
many problems in our community.
In July 2007, the Impact Team worked a case after finding stolen property from a retail store listed for sale on a public
website called Craig’s List. The Impact Team set up a successful sting operation by calling the seller and having one of the
Impact members pose as a potential buyer. When the suspect arrived at the designated location with the stolen equipment, he
was placed into custody. A subsequent interview of the suspect led to a search of his apartment which yielded thousands of
dollars worth of guitars, amplifiers, turntables and other electronics equipment that had been stolen.
