The Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad consists of 10 members, three of which are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The
bomb squad responds to chemical and bomb reports throughout Arapahoe County, as well as assists other agencies when requested.
Bomb Squad members work and train with surrounding area bomb squads to benefit all communities by ensuring a cohesive multi-jurisdictional
response to major events. Each technician goes through extensive training in emergency responses involving bombs, chemical
agents or biological hazards. A robot, bomb disposal trailer (which can be operated from a distance of several hundred feet)
and X-ray technology are tools used by the bomb squad to evaluate and handle unknown packages and situations.
The ACSO Bomb Squad is accredited through the FBI Bomb Squad Commanders Committee. To be accredited, the bomb squad must have
the FBI listed mandatory equipment and meet stringent training standards.
