Training

Quality training is often considered to be the most important element of any law enforcement agency. Training provides the agency with members who are better prepared to act correctly and decisively in a variety of situations. Quality training at the Sheriff’s Office is provided throughout a member’s career in the form of monthly in-service training, transitional and promotional academies, seminars, job-specific classes and schools. The Sheriff’s Office Training, Research and Development Section is staffed by one sergeant and three senior deputy/coordinators.

Members of the Office of Professional Standards continue to conduct classes in the Sheriff’s Code of Conduct and the disciplinary process. These classes are taught to all members of the Sheriff’s Office and the Sergeants and Lieutenants academies.
