Professional Standards Bureau

Under the command of Captain Vince Line, the Professional Standards Bureau is responsible for the following functions: internal investigations of employee misconduct; training; concealed weapons permits, human resources and maintenance of the Sheriff's Office law enforcement accreditation.

In 2009, the Office of Professional Standards completed 64 official Internal Affairs Investigations in addition to a variety of other concerns and inquiries. This section also reviewed 294 Use of Force reports, 76 Vehicle Incident reports, and conducted background investigations regarding the issuance of 2,275 Concealed Weapon Permits.

Inspector David Wellman is responsible for overseeing Internal Affairs. Deputy Inspectors Liz Westberg, Todd Fechner and Frank Agos handle all Internal Affairs complaints. Sergeant Darren Gammel is responsible for the Training Section, which includes the Community Resource Unit. Sgt. Frank Agos coordinates all concealed weapons applications. Jon Takayama is the Human Resources Manager. Deputy Inspector Ken Mcklem manages accreditation and staff inspections.
