Sheriff’s Office deploys COPLINK to aid in apprehension of criminals
In January, the Sheriff’s Office implemented a new tool to aid in the identification and apprehension of criminals.  COPLINK is the only out-of-the-box software solution that provides tactical lead generation, crime analysis, and cross-country information sharing. COPLINK offers unparalleled analysis and decision support for rapidly identifying criminal suspects, relationships and patterns that can help solve crime and thwart illegal activity. It works by allowing vast quantities of structured and seemingly unrelated data, currently housed in various incompatible databases and records management systems, to be securely organized, consolidated and rapidly analyzed over a highly secure intranet-based platform.
One search using known or partial facts from an ongoing investigation can in seconds produce qualified leads that would otherwise be unapparent - a process that prior to COPLINK wasn't possible at all or often took days or weeks to accomplish. COPLINK also provides the most advanced privacy and security features available. An elegant, completely integrated solution, COPLINK is tactically sophisticated, user friendly, and adaptable to agency preferences.

Suspect arrested after breaking into marijuana dispensary
On January 23, 2010, about 2:25 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress at the Herbal Options medical marijuana dispensary, 3431 S. Federal Blvd. The initial witness reported seeing two or more persons moving inside the closed business. Sheridan Police Department also responded and reported seeing and hearing movement. A perimeter was quickly established around the building. Verbal commands to exit the building were ignored. Instead, the suspect was seen moving objects and creating a barricade. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was activated and prior to their deployment, the suspect surrendered.

The lone suspect, a 50-year old male, was transported the Sullivan Detention Facility charged with Second Degree Burglary and Criminal Mischief.  Bond $10,000.00.
