
Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Explorer’s attend the Regional Conference
The Explorer program is an educational program for high school students ages 14-20 with an interest in Law Enforcement. The
Explorers receive training in Traffic Control, Traffic Stops, Arrest Control, Criminal Code, Patrol Procedures, Building Searches,
Crime Scene Investigation, Crisis Intervention, Report Writing, and Firearms Safety.
On July 11, 2010, Deputy Inspector Todd Fechner from the Office of Professional Standards assisted the Arapahoe County Explorers
while they began competing at the 2010 Law Enforcement Explorer Post Advisor’s Association of Colorado or “LEEPAAC” Regional
Conference in Gunnison, Colorado.
During this conference, Explorers competed against Law Enforcement Explorers from multiple states. By the end of the conference,
the Arapahoe County Explorers had taken 1st place in three of the six different team competitions. The total awards the team received are as follows:
1st Place – High Risk Entry – Ben Gurwin
1st Place - Continuing Case Investigation - Andrew Heaton
1st Place – Incident Command – Tim Knox
3rd Place – Continuing Case Investigation – Tim Knox
3rd Place – Traffic Crash Investigation – Brandon Vickrey
4th Place – High Risk Traffic Stop – Jeff Aleman
5th Place – Incident Command – Brandon Vickrey
