The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Community Resource Unit is working with the Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers in reaching out to
the community. Experienced dispatchers are attending Homeowners meetings with ACSO Crime Prevention Deputies on a regular
basis and answering questions from citizens. The goal is to provide citizens with information on how our dispatch center works such as how they prioritize calls for assistance
and what they can expect when they call and talk to a dispatcher. Often citizens believe that calling 911 is only for an emergency situation. Although it is preferred that citizens use 911
for emergencies, dispatchers want to emphasize that it is better for them to get a call from a citizen than no call at all. If
appropriate for your situation, utilize the non-emergency phone number, which is 303-795-4711. If you would like more information and would like a dispatch to visit your HOA meeting or another function, please contact
the Crime Prevention Deputies:
Deputy Amir Stephen 720-874-3750
Deputy Brian McKnight 720-874-3752
Reorganization of Accreditation Section The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office has recently reorganized and expanded the Accreditation Section. This section is responsible
for ensuring that the Sheriff’s Office is meeting standards set by several certifying agencies. These standards have been
adopted and facilitated into our policies and procedures to show that we are providing consistent quality service. The agencies
involved include The American Correctional Association (ACA), The Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
(CALEA), The Public Safety Communication Accreditation Program (PSCAP), The National Commission on Correctional Health Care
(NCCHC) and The County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC).Additionally, this reorganization and expansion was accomplished by utilizing
current personnel, therefore avoiding expenditures for additional employees. The reorganization now centralizes the five
processes for accreditation purposes near the Training Section to ensure accountability and to improve training practices.
