On November 16, 2010, the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners adopted new Floodplain Management Regulations, to
become effective November 30, 2010, to comply with requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to update local
regulations to meet the minimum National Flood Insurance Program requirements. The new Floodplain Management Regulations also improve consistency with the Floodplain Chapter of the Arapahoe County Stormwater
Management Manual and provides clarification on the use of these regulatory tools and the relationship between the two. The
Floodplain Management Regulations were removed from Chapter 12 Specific Regulations, Section 100 Areas and Activities of Special
Interest, Arapahoe County Land Development Code, to create a stand-alone Section 12-2000 – Floodplain Management and Flood
Damage Prevention Regulations within the LDC. If you have questions about how these new regulations affect your project, please contact Arapahoe County Public Works and
Development at 720-874-6500.
