The Current Planning Section is responsible for the review and processing of land use and subdivision applications. The review
process includes analyzing applications to rezone, develop or subdivide land for conformance with the Arapahoe County Land Development Code and negotiating the resolution of non-conformance issues that arise during the land use review process. The results of the
review process are articulated in formal recommendations to the applicant, the Planning Commission, the Board of County Commissioners,
homeowners groups, and other public groups that are involved in the land development case. Current Planning staff also is responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance in the administration and on-going
development of County Land Development Regulations and the Comprehensive Plan. A special function of the Current Planning
Section is the public education and interpretation assistance provided to the public through the Planner-on-call and Customer
Service desk, as the land use codes sometimes require a helpful navigator. Coordination with the development community and
other governmental agencies can be very important for the applicant in the land use review process.
