Road and Bridge
The Road and Bridge Division is charged with maintaining Arapahoe County roads and bridges to provide residents with a convenient,
accessible and safe transportation system. An important part of this mission is the continuous inspection program that attempts
to eliminate road hazards and extend the pavement life of the paved road system by making necessary repairs in a timely manner.
The Road and Bridge Division also works with the Traffic section in preparing signs for new development areas, as well as
ensuring all advisory and informational traffic signs are inspected and maintained on a regular basis.
Arapahoe County is divided into two maintenance areas for Road and Bridge Division operations. The Peoria shop near Centennial
Airport is responsible for the roads between Sheridan Boulevard and Watkins Road, serving an urban population of over 68,000.
The Eastern Service Center in Bennett services an area from Watkins Road east to Washington County, with about 540 square
miles in a rural environment.
The major maintenance activities of the Road and Bridge Division are as follows:
- Asphalt Overlays, Seal Coats
- Snow Removal and Ice Control
