In response to the growing needs of the local criminal justice system, the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners created
a Justice Coordinating Committee in August 2007. The purpose of the committee is to address the growing need for jail space
and to find innovative ways to make the most efficient use of Arapahoe County’s court and jail space to meet both short-term
and long-term needs.
The JCC consists of Arapahoe County Commissioner Jim Dyer, District 2; Commissioner Rod Bockenfeld, District 3; Sheriff Grayson
Robinson; William B. Sylvester, Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial District; Carol Chambers, District Attorney, 18th Judicial District; Greenwood Village Mayor Pro Tem Ron Rakowsky; and Brad Cromer, citizen member.
The JCC meets monthly and is continuing a community dialogue that began two years ago among citizens and representatives from
the courts, law enforcement and local, state and county government. The Committee focuses on issues such as space needs and
the necessary efficiencies in the County’s courts and jails, as well as to consider options for expanding the courts and jail.
