Pathology Assistants are trained to assist with autopsies. The real name for pathology assistant is a diener. Pathology Assistants help Dr. Dobersen with every phase of an autopsy, including taking pictures and assisting in trace evidence collection. Pathology Assistants must be knowledgeable about anatomy and physiology, and how the body works. Each assistant undergoes additional training with Dr. Dobersen to become familiar with his autopsy techniques.

Denise Baldwin came to the Coroners Office as an intern in spring 2005; she started as an on call medical investigator in fall 2005, and became a full time Pathology Assistant in January 2006. Denise attended high school at W.C. Hinkley High, and will graduate in summer 2006 from Columbia College of Missouri with a BA in Criminal Justice.
